For the second time, fire crews in the town of Eliot were called to a large fire at a local recycling plant.

The Chief posted on the department's Facebook page at around midnight that the fire was under control at the ARC facility on Dow Highway. It was a 'considerable fire,' according to the chief at the facility that had another fire in May of last year.  Heavy equipment was used to pull burning material out of the building so it could be extinguished. Water was a problem, with little available at the site, so Tankers had to be used to shuttle water in, making fighting the fire challenging.

Residents are advised to keep their windows shut to keep out the large amount of smoke created by the fire.
