With “Turn It On,” Eli Young Band reveal they were just hoping to write a fun love song for their live show. They overachieved. The uptempo Texas country-rocker may be Mike Eli’s sharpest storytelling moment.

The story and tempo are easy to embrace, with the singer having an intimate conversation with a cute girl at the bar:

“Damn, girl, I didn't know you'd be here / Been a while, it's sure good to see you / Rollin' in here, ready to rock / Standin' there sippin' that Shiner Bock,” he sings to open the song.

The band creates tension while Eli sings his love song, or maybe his love-for-a-night song. Granted, the guys are a long time removed from picking up girls at bars, so maybe they relied on old college memories to pen this song. It’s effective, and easy to listen to on repeat.

“Cause I can't turn it off, turn it off, turn it off the way you turn it / Turn it on, turn it on, turn it on, girl I'll admit right now / I'm just about halfway gone, baby you can do no wrong / And I can't turn it off the way you turn it on,” they sing at the chorus.

“Turn It On” will make a great moment during Eli Young Band’s live show, but should also prove to be a big radio hit. It’s accessible and easy to embrace. While it may not win them another Song of the Year award, it’s got the potential to become their first chart-topper in two years.

Why Fans Will Love It: "Turn It On" is Eli Young Band's spiciest song to date. The locomotive tempo grabs your attention while the lyrics keep it.

Key Lyrics: "Cause I can't turn it off, turn it off, turn it off the way you turn it / Turn it on, turn it on, turn it on"

Did You Know?: There's a super-clean edit of "Turn It On" that begins with "Hey girl." The band says they just wanted to write a fun song for their live show.
