Many animal shelters around the state will take cats and dogs. But Samsara  Animal Refuge in Greenbush is where law enforcement turns when they have an animal neglect case that involves animals like sheep, goats, horses, ducks, or whatever. This very special shelter operates without any sort of conventional funding, so several local bands are getting together to raise money in support of what they do.

The Samsara Exotic Animal Refuge is located on the County Road, east of MIlford. They take in pets that the Humane Society can't, like cows, wolves, chickens, geese, and any other animal that needs a home. These kind folks nurse the animals back to health just because they care. It's a not-for-profit organization that relies on donations to  operate and, right now, they are in need of some help.

So a benefit will be held, beginning at 1pm on Sunday, January 19th at the Old Town Elks Lodge. The entertainment will feature some of the best local talent, including the bands 5 Wheel Drive, The Allison Ames Band, Rockin' Ron and the New Society Band, Desperado, The 2nd Chance Band, the Rick Carter Band, The Barn Dogs, and the Not Quite Rite Band, and Rebel Riot! Admission is a suggested donation of $10, but give what you can. No one will be turned away! There will also be a food table with treats for $5 each.

A table will also be set up to collect donations for the shelter. Aside from the financial donation, they could use newspaper, scrap lumber, nails & screws, partial cans of paint, used fencing of any kind, blankets, towels, rags, buckets, animal dishes, leashes, collars, shovels, rakes, garden hoses and ropes. Any of these items would be greatly appreciated!

Stop by for an afternoon and evening of great entertainment, food, and fun and help fulfill a need for some great people! If you are unable to attend and would like to make a donation to the shelter, you can donate through Paypal at samsararefuge@aol.com or send checks or money orders to:
