You can sit down to a delicious dinner tonight and help fund research into finding a cure for Alzheimer's. The 3-course chicken dinner will be served by staff members of Woodlands Senior Living in Brewer.

According to the Alzheimer's Association's 2014 'Alzheimer's Disease Facts and Figures' report, over 37,000 families in Maine are living with Alzheimer's or a related dementia. Approximately 147,000 friends and family members endure the significant emotional, physical, and financial challenges of caregiving for their loved ones with Alzheimer's or other dementia. Woodland's Executive Director Ben Smith told me that this one disease stands to bankrupt the nation if a cure is not found.

The Walk to End Alzheimer's is the nation's largest Alzheimer's disease fundraiser. In 2013, over 800 people turned out at the Hollywood Casino Raceway in Bangor to take part, raising around $108,000! This year's walk will be held on September 13th.

Staff members from Woodlands, who are also on the Woodlands Senior Living of Brewer's Walk to End Alzheimer's Team, will be acting as wait staff at the Clewley Farm Restaurant in Eddington tonight. So, not only will 20% of your check go to Alzheimer's research, but the tip you leave your server will too!

It's just $15 for a 3-course chicken dinner tonight at the Clewley Farm Restaurant. Just show up between 4 and 8 p.m. and enjoy!

A silent auction will also be part of the festivities, with proceeds to benefit the Alzheimer's Association. Stop out, make a bid, and know that your donation will help a lot of families in Maine!
