A Fort Fairfield woman is in critical condition following a head-on crash in Easton Sunday afternoon. Police do not believe speed and alcohol were factors in the accident that happened at around 4:30pm on Route 1A near the intersection with Lamoreau Road.

State Police say a Toyota pickup driven by 67-year-old Barry Belyea of Portland was traveling north on Route 1A when his pickup partially crossed the center line into the path of a Honda sedan operated by 19-year-old Abigail Ladner, who was traveling south.

Ladner sustained life threatening injuries and, at last report, was in critical condition at Eastern Maine Medical Center. Belyea sustained minor injuries and a possible concussion. He was treated and released from a hospital in Presque Isle.

Police say the investigation is ongoing but it does not appear that speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.
