Bangor area residents will have a chance to properly dispose of expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs this weekend.

The Bangor Police Department and the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office will both hold drug take-back events on Saturday, September 26.

Area residents can stop by the Bangor Police Department on Main Street or the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office on State Street between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

The events coincide with National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.

Controlled, non-controlled and over the counter substances may be collected.

Participants may dispose of medication in its original container or by removing the medication from its container and disposing of it directly into the disposal box.

All individuals are encouraged to remove any identifying information from the prescription label.
