Don Draper is one of the most complex, interesting TV characters to come along in quite a while. So, it's no surprise to me that one of his prized possessions is headed to the Smithsonian to be put on display. And nothing is more precious to Draper than his bar cart!

'Mad Men' is definitely one of my guilty pleasures. It's been a while since I binge-watched the show, but I think I've been through most of it at least twice. The characters are captivating, each in their own way. They all deal with their own demons. And even the purest characters, like Peggy, get corrupted by the drinking and carousing that is everyday life in the ad business. It's well-written and well-acted. In the top video, Draper is trying to quit drinking, but realizes that stopping cold is, perhaps, not the best idea. And it shows off the cart! And, in case you've never watched the show, you can meet Don Draper in all his cynical glory in the bottom video!

Part of the reason I love this show is that I get a big kick out of the set dressings. I mean, seeing the traditional Howard Johnson's decor, people who picnic and then leave their trash everywhere, and the description of an IBM Selectric typewriter as 'advanced technology' makes me laugh. Everyone drinks and smokes and does all the things we now know are bad for you. It takes me back to when I was a kid and the world was a very different place. Not always for the better, either!

Congratulations to Jon Hamm for doing such a convincing job of portraying a damaged, corrupt, morally-challenged ad man from the 1960's. As I said before, he's one of the most interesting characters on TV. And now, his bar cart can sit next to Archie Bunker's chair!
