The woman reported that during the assault, which occurred at the home they shared, she had stabbed her boyfriend in self-defense and that he had subsequently left with a relative to seek medical treatment.

Deputies and detectives responded to the scene of the alleged crime while others went to the hospital to talk with the suspect. The victim, who is reportedly pregnant, was taken to Cary Medical Center for medical evaluation and later released.

The suspect, 32-year-old Timothy Frost, was also treated and released at Cary Medical Center and subsequently arrested by Deputy Sheriffs. He was transported to the Aroostook County Jail, where he is facing domestic assault charges. A bail commissioner refused to set bail, so that issue will be addressed again when Frost makes an initial court appearance on Friday.

Frost has a 2003 federal conviction for robbery, using and carrying a firearm in the commission of a crime and possession of a stolen firearm.
