Not since eating a dirt sandwich as a kid (my reward for mercilessly teasing my sisters) have I ever wanted that taste in my mouth again. But for the well-to-do in Japan, 'dirt food' is now on the menu at an upscale restaurant, and 'it's dirt cheap' is no longer a relevant phrase.

Chef Toshio Tanabe has reportedly cracked the code in making soil a delicacy. He has at least convinced a few that his creations are worth a $100 per serving.
