Deadly Berwick Fire Was Started By Victim, Police Say

The state fire marshal's office says the deadly house fire in Berwick early Monday morning was set by the victim.

Jon Kellar, 55, lived alone in the house on River Street, Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Department of Public Safety, said in a new release Monday afternoon.

Kellar poured gasoline throughout the house and blocked the doors to prevent firefighters from getting inside, the release said.

The house was gutted in the blaze and Kellar's body was found inside.

The fire was reported just after 2 a.m.
