Country Homeboys & Gals Love Lucero–’Women & Work’ Video
I don’t know about you, but sometimes country music artists come off a bit too polished for me. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but I like bands that have members that look like the guys and gals that I grew up with and partied with at the pit–like the band Lucero.
Out of Memphis, Tennessee, Lucero first played at punk rock concerts, although they say they never played punk rock music. Their music has a nice rock & roll edge to it without crossing way over the line to another world. Ben Nichols, lead singer and front man for the band, has a voice that sounds it was shaped by years of smoking and a steady diet of Jack–I like it.
There latest effort is called ‘Women and Work.’ The video says it all. Whether or not the song will chart respectably remains to be seen, but I think they’ve got a pretty good shot.
