Convicted Murderer Kyle Dube To Be Sentenced Friday

The man convicted of using a fake Facebook account to lure a 15-year-old Glenburn teenager to her ultimate death will be sentenced on Friday. Kyle Dube of Orono told investigators he never intended to kill her.

Dube told prosecutors his plan was to kidnap Cable and hide her away until a search was launched. At that point, he would 'find her' and play the hero. The medical examiner determined Cable died of 'asphyxia due to compression of the neck.' It took a jury just 45 minutes to reach a guilty verdict in March. When the verdict was read, Cable's father stood and applauded while other family members wept.

The murder opened many conversations about the dangers of allowing young people to use social media. With the sentencing due on Friday, parents are encouraged to, once again, talk with their children about the dangers of social media and texting, and how to protect themselves.
