A Wisconsin-based company says it plans to purchase a Maine paper mill. And it's good news for local workers because the company says it plans to resume pulp production.

Expera Specialty Solutions announced on Tuesday that it's purchasing the Old Town Fuel and Fiber mill and will resume pulp production. The company expects the sale will be completed by the end of the year.

That could be good news for about 200 employees who lost their jobs when the mill suspended operations in August. Owners said high costs and foreign competition made it too expense to continue operating.

Governor Paul LePage said on Monday that there are also three companies interested in buying the Great Northern Paper Mill in East Millinocket.
