Coleman Found Guilty Of Killing His Girlfriend And Her 2 Children

The man accused of killing his girlfriend and her two children, and sexually assaulting the daughter, has been found guilty.

29-year-old Keith Coleman was on trial for the murders of 36-year-old Christina Sargent, her 10-year-old son Dwayne Coke, and her 8-year-old daughter Destiny Sargent. WABI-TV reports that a jury found Coleman guilty of three counts of murder today and also guilty of one count of sexual assault against Destiny. All three victims were found in their Garland home nearly two years ago.

The jury deliberated for about two hours Wednesday, before breaking for the night. They had a verdict before 10:00 Thursday morning. Coleman's trial lasted 10 days, and he never took the stand in his own defense. Prosecutors claimed that DNA evidence on Destiny's clothing pointed to Coleman and that he originally confessed to strangling the family in their Garland home. However, the defense argued that the confession was obtained when Coleman felt intimidated by police.

He could be sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.
