On the City of Brewer Maine Facebook page, a reminder was just put out that fall leaf collection for the city will start on Tuesday, November 13th. And there a few things you may want to keep in mind as you're prepping your pile.

Your leaves must be in a biodegradable paper bag. If they are in a plastic bag, or just piled up loosely by the side of the road, they won't take them. Also, there can't be any large sticks, or rocks, or dirt mixed in. But, don't worry if you have some garden waste in there. It'll actually go quite nicely in the city compost. If you need bags, they are available for $.50 a piece at the Brewer Landfill at 403 Elm Street during regular hours.

If you miss the pickup date, or don't want to bag them in paper, or bag them at all for that matter, they can still be brought, as always to the city landfill. If you choose to bring your leaves in plastic bags, you will need to tear the bags open and dump the leaves in the compost pile.

The landfill is open every Tuesday from 7:00a.m. - 11:30a.m., as well as the first and third Saturdays of each month, from 7:30a.m. - 2:00p.m. And of course if you have questions, give a jingle to Brewer Public Works at 207-989-7800.

Happy raking to those that haven't yet! And to those of you who are always prepared and ready beforehand.....show offs!!!
