Waterfront Concerts and the City of Bangor plan to make some changes to the Waterfront Pavilion this spring, in advance of a busy concert season.

The BDN reports the most obvious change will be a new wooden fence surrounding the venue. Currently, plastic tarps attached to a chain link fence block the view of the stage for passersby. But, each year, the tarps become filled with holes as people stop to get a peek inside. City officials and residents have complained about the aesthetics of having blue tarps hanging on Main Street.

In addition, planners hope to install new bathrooms to replace the porta potties that lined the concert venue last year. One option is to bring in pre-fabricated modular units that would offer a better experience for concert-goers.

An improvement that's already been started is a new road near Hollywood Casino that will lead to a backstage parking area for performers. This will allow for a much easier entrance and exit, without having to take the buses through crowds of concert-goers.

The fence is expected to be completed before the first concert of the season. Dierks Bentley, Randy Houser, Cam, and Tucker Beathard kick off the season on June 4th.
