Want a fun and unique way to spend time with your Mom for Mother's Day? I have the perfect idea. Take her to High Tea! Yummy refreshments, musical entertainment, and all the proceeds benefit an organization that helps women every day!

This is the second year that the Bangor Y and Eastern Maine Medical Center have put on the "Celebrating Mothers High Tea." Beautiful appetizers, tea sandwiches, pastries and desserts, along with exquisite teas from around the world! Wines and champagne will be offered for the non-tea drinkers. Entertainment will be provided by Allison Bankston and Brian Catell! And it all happens at the very beautiful Hilton Garden Inn in Bangor.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Caring Connections, a non-profit cooperative program of the Bangor Y and Eastern Maine Medical Center. Caring Connections provides outreach, education, advocacy, and support, as well as access to quality breast and cervical health services. The organization's primary goal is to improve the physical and emotional health/wellness of women in Northern and Downeast Maine.

They do this in a variety of ways, including giving women rides to their medical testing, holding their hand as they await those tests, educating women about the importance of cancer testing, and supporting them emotionally after a diagnosis. They even provide some free testing to women who fall within financial guidelines!

Two women will be honored at this year's event. Dr. Susan O'Connor and Elaine Chambers have both worked for years to further the healthcare giving to the women  in our community, especially concerning breast health issues!

The Celebrating Mother's High Tea will be held Thursday, May 9th from 5 to 7pm at the Hilton Garden Inn Ballroom, 250 Haskell Road in Bangor. Tickets are $40 per person or $70 for a party of two. You need to RSVP by Monday, so don't delay! Get your tickets by calling Suzanne Brunner at the Bangor Y at 941-2808, Extension 337.
