Shooting in Old Town by State Trooper Justified

It was an intense scene that unfolded the night of October 9, 2013 in Old Town when a 28 year old man called 9-1-1 to report he had just stabbed his girlfriend in the chest and was going to take his own life.

Young children were involved in the domestic violence incident but unharmed, and when it was all said and done, a pregnant woman was found dead and her attacker was shot dead by police.

It’s an Epidemic That Can Be Stopped

Last week Governor Paul LePage ended his State of the State speech by calling on state lawmakers and citizens to recognize there's a serious epidemic in Maine and it's drug addiction.

One woman in particular was pleased the Governor addressed the issue and agrees with beefing up law enforcement, but, she cautions that's only part of the solution for reversing the powerful grip the disease has on those who struggle to regain control of their lives.

The problem can in fact be reversed, but it will take time, a multifaceted approach, and the commitment from citizens to prioritize financial resources.

Drug Busts in Bangor and Dedham Net Four Arrests, Drugs + Thousands in Cash

Drug raids overnight in Bangor and Dedham ended with four arrests and thousands of dollars in drugs and cash confiscated.  The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency says the drugs, including heroin and oxycodone, originated in New York and were due to be sold in Penobscot and Hancock Counties.
