Twin Explosions at Boston Marathon Finish Line [UPDATED]

9 p.m. (EST): The final press conference of the day with Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick, Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis and various other officials just concluded. The FBI is now leading investigations of the events. Davis confirmed that three people were killed in today's blasts.

CNN is reporting that one of the victims killed was an 8-year-old boy. The Wall Street Journal had reported that as many as five other unexploded devices were found around Boston, but investigators now doubt that they were actually bombs.

Corkum Named Interim Head Hockey Coach; Whitehead ‘Disappointed,’ ‘Not Surprised’ by Firing [AUDIO]

The University of Maine announced Wednesday the appointment of Bob Corkum as interim head coach of the men's hockey team, one day after the firing of longtime coach Tim Whitehead. Corkum, a former captain of the Black Bears and NHL player, had been an assistant under Whitehead for the past four years.

Meanwhile, Whitehead addressed the media for the first time since university officials fired him on Wednesday, citing a decline in the once-storied program.

One man is dead after a stabbing in Bangor.

Bangor Police Sgt. Paul Edwards says they were called to outer Ohio Street last night around 6 p.m. and found a man bleeding in the parking lot. He died later at Eastern Maine Medical Center.
