Three people were treated for minor injuries after their car jumped a snowbank and landed on a frozen lake.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says the accident happened just after 8:00 Sunday morning in the town of Hiram. A car containing three people from New Hampshire catapulted over a snowbank and plunged 50 feet onto the frozen water alongside Route 113.

Luckily, unlike other lakes, streams, and rivers in Maine, where the ice isn't currently stable, the ice was thick enough that the car didn't break through. All three occupants were treated for minor injuries.

The Oxford County Sheriff's office investigated the crash. -
