A woman refused medical treatment after her car struck a tree that had fallen across the road in Mount Chase.

State Police say Barbara Landry was driving her Ford Escape north on the Shin Pond Road in Mount Chase just after 10:00 Sunday night when she came upon a tree that had fallen into the road. The tree was large enough that it was blocking the entire roadway. Landry didn't see the tree in time to stop and struck it with the front of her SUV, causing extensive damage.

The vehicle was towed from the scene and is likely a total loss. The tree was removed by the Maine Department of Transportation. Landry complained of back pain but refused an ambulance, stating that she'll seek medical treatment, if she felt she needed it later.
