Matthew Gross on Tuesday completed his annual Ride for the Wet Nose bike ride, an event started by the teen to raise money for local animal shelters.

The 14-year-old from Brewer has raised more than $12,000 over the past five years.

On Tuesday, Matthew and his dad biked from Pat’s Bike Shop in Brewer to the Passadumkeag fire station, a 67-mile round-trip that took just under 5 hours to complete.

This year's ride benefited the Bangor Humane Society and Old Town Animal Shelter.

"Congratulations to Matt at Ride for the Wet Nose on another successful ride!" The Bangor shelter said on Facebook Tuesday. "Thanks for all you do to help shelter pets in any way that you can."

Anyone interested in making a donation should visit the Ride for the Wet Nose Facebook page and send a private message.
