Brewer Days this weekend will feature fun for the whole family, including a street dance, live music, car show, and more!

Brewer is a great town. And I don't just say that because I grew up here. It's full of nice, friendly people who really know how to put on a summer party! The Hometown Celebration is being held all weekend, around the city.

On Friday, the festivities kick off with the 11th Annual Brewer Youth Hockey Family Barbecue. Stop by the Brewer Auditorium between 6 and 8 p.m. for hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, cole slaw, and soda. The Brewer Hometown Band will perform from 6 to 7, serenading the diners. There will be a ceremony to name Brewer's Citizen and Business of the Year before the Brewer vs Mt Blue football game in Doyle Field. And after the game, you can stick around for a street dance in the parking lot!

That's just Friday evening. Saturday is full of family-friendly events, starting with a pancake breakfast at the Auditorium from 7 to 9:30 a.m., put on by the Brewer Kiwanis. The farmer's market will be set up in the Auditorium parking lot from 8 to 1, there will be a Scan-a-thon at the Brewer Public Library (where folks can scan historical photos and documents), a Children's Carnival at the Auditorium, and live music throughout the day! Kids can cool off on the giant water slide with the Brewer Fire Department, Penobscot Ice Arena will have a free public skate from 4 to 6 p.m., and the day will round out with a spaghetti dinner at the Auditorium, sponsored by the Brewer HIstorical Society.

Car enthusiasts will want to make their way to the Snap Space Parking Lot in the East West Industrial Park from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday for the 9th Annual Brewer Days Car Show! Sponsored by Brewer Boy Scout Troop 15, there will be music, food, prizes, kids games, and more.
