There will be plenty of fun in Brewer this weekend as Brewer Days takes over the city! It kicks off Friday with a family barbecue and ends Sunday with a huge car show. In between, there will be music, fireworks, and zombies!

When I was growing up in Brewer, the big celebration was CANUSA which, while it was a cool collaboration between the U.S. and Canada, wasn't much fun unless you were a good swimmer. But now, Brewer Days has fun for all. No bathing suit required!

Friday's festivities kick off with a Family barbecue at the Brewer Auditorium from 6 to 8 pm, sponsored by Brewer Youth Hockey. While that's going on, the Brewer Hometown Band will perform at 6, and Mayor Jerry Goss will announce the winners of the citizen and business of the year awards at 6:30.

Then at 7 pm, a family street dance and block party will be held outside the auditorium, in the parking lot. And to cap off the evening, fireworks will launch at 9 pm, with the dance continuing til 9:30!

Phew! Okay, that's just Friday. On Saturday, the fun starts with a Brewer Kiwanis pancake breakfast at the Brewer Auditorium from 7-9:30. It's just $4 and $2 for children, with the money put toward Kiwanis Charities. Be sure to browse the Farmer's Market while you're there!

After breakfast, things get busy! The Brewer Police Department will auction off unclaimed bicycles, there will be a children's carnival (including a giant water slide!), and live music will keep things hopping all afternoon.

There's still time to get signed up for the Witches and Zombie run. You don't want to miss this! Each participant will be given flags (like flag football) and, while you travel the 5K route, zombies will try to steal them away from you! The witches? Well, they're just there to point, cackle, and make the whole thing fun! Click here to get signed up. Proceeds from the event will help send members of the Brewer Youth Theatre to a huge international arts festival in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2015!

Saturday's fun ends with a spaghetti dinner and silent auction, sponsored by the Brewer Historical Society. It's being held at the auditorium, beginning at 6 pm and it costs $6 per person, with the proceeds to benefit the Historical Society.

Wait, we're not done yet! Sunday, there's a huge car show in the SnapSpace Solutions parking lot, 55 Baker Boulevard, from 9 am to 3 pm. Along with the hot cars there will be food, music, and games for the kids!
