Brewer 3rd Grade Class Wins National Writing Contest [VIDEO]

A 3rd grade class from Brewer Community School, has won a national writing contest and had their story read aloud on YouTube by a well-known actress.

The students' story is based on the Dr. Seuss book 'What Pet Should I Get.' In the book, their teacher Mrs. MacInnes reads the Seuss book to the class, instructing them to close their eyes and imagine what pets they would get. When they open their eyes, however, they realize they've all turned into animals, and now must figure out how to change back into humans.

Mrs. P's Magic Library, described as an award-winning free storybook destination online, held the contest and determined the winner out of entries from across the country. Mrs. P. is portrayed by actress Kathy Kinney, who is best known for her role as Mimi Bobeck on 'The Drew Carey Show.'

In the video, Mrs. P. reads the story, complete with illustrations, and congratulates the children on their wonderful book. Let me add my congratulations, as well. I loved the story! And I'll be playing the video for my granddaughter Cami very soon. I know she's going to love it!
