A twist on the pictures taken from the Thomas Hill Standpipe, this video shows a drone camera's view of the Standpipe at sunrise, along with a birds-eye view of Bangor. Beautiful!

Our friend Monty Rand, whose drone camera can often be seen above the Darling's Waterfront Pavilion, has offered up a breathtaking view of Bangor. The Thomas Hill Standpipe is a Bangor landmark and is on the National Register of Historic Places. It's also designated an American Water Landmark, by the American Water Works Association.

Many don't realize that the Standpipe is still a working water source for the city, containing 1,750,000 gallons of water. Standing 50 feet high and 75 feet in diameter, the ring of lights around the roof is often referred to as the Crown of the Queen City!

One of the first things my said, when we climbed the standpipe together, was how amazed he was at how many trees he could see. While traveling through Bangor's city streets, you might not realize how many trees cluster around the urban structures. But, with this view from Rand's drone-cam, you can easily see that Bangor is a city set in a rural landscape. And it's made even more beautiful as the fall colors are just starting to show up. Check it out!
