A Bowndoinham woman has died after being found severely injured inside her home and police are now saying it's a homicide.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says Sagadahoc County Sheriff's Deputies found 55-year-old Beaulah 'Marie' Sylvester unconscious in her mobile home at 946 Post Road. She had suffered severe injuries and was taken to Maine Medical center in Portland where she died Monday night.

Police continue to investigate as they try to piece together how the woman was injured. McCausland says an autopsy was done at the State Medical Examiner's Office to determine cause of death. The investigation is ongoing but police are now investigating her death as a homicide.

So far, police haven't commented on how she died, but say there's no danger to the public.

We'll update this story as more details become available.
