Cony High School students are home today after school officials received a bomb threat.

Augusta Police Deputy Chief Jared Mills says a bomb threat was communicated through an email to the school. Since students had not yet started their morning commute, it was decided to cancel school for the day.

Maine State Police, Portland and Bangor police K-9’s searched Augusta schools and found no harmful devices or substances, Mills said.

Local police are working with the Maine Information and Analysis Center, the Maine Computer Crimes Task Force and the FBI to determine if the bomb threat in Augusta was connected to similar threats made against several other schools in New England Friday morning.
