The Warden Service says the body of a teen who fell from a pontoon boat yesterday on Long Lake has been recovered.

Warden Corporal John MacDonald says wardens recovered the body of Jesse Nicholas Cardone, age 19 from Hollis Center, today. He was found just after 6 this evening after being detected by Warden Service side scan sonar in 42 feet of water.

Cardone was presumed drowned after falling from a pontoon boat just before noon on Wednesday. He'd been riding near the front of the boat in Bridgton when he fell overboard and went beneath the vessel. Cardone was not wearing a life jacket and witnesses said he came in contact with the boat after falling into the water.

The body has been released to Chandler Funeral home in South Paris. The Medical Examiner's Office will conduct an autopsy tomorrow. This case remains under investigation by the Maine Warden Service.

MacDonald says the Warden Service would like to thank the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office, Naples Harbor Master, Bridgton Fire & Rescue, United Ambulance, and Naples Fire & Rescue for their assistance during the two-day recovery effort.
