The body of a 20-year-old Marine who was killed in a car accident in Virginia was returned to Maine Tuesday.

Devon Strout was stationed at Marine Corps Base Quantico. He was a graduate of Penquis Valley High School in Milo.

Strout was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Dec. 17 in Stafford County, Virginia, according to Fredericksburg.com

His body was returned to Maine Tuesday night. After arriving in Boston, his remains were expected to be escorted home by three Marines and state police troopers from Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine, according to the Facebook page "Bringing Home Devon."

A funeral service was scheduled for Thursday at 1 p.m. at Penquis Valley High School, according to Strout's obituary.
