Body Found By Fort Kent Snowmobile Trail

Fort Kent Police have released the identity of an Allagash man whose body was found near a snowmobile trail.

The deceased has been identified as 25-year-old Cody Bennett of Allagash. Officials say Bennett was never reported missing but had not been seen for several days. WAGM-TV reports police were called to the trail near Pleasant Street in Fort Kent at around 1:35 Saturday afternoon by a couple who discovered the body while on a snowshoeing trip.

According to investigators, it appears the man wandered off the snowshoe trail and possibly became disoriented. Temperatures had been extremely cold for several days before Bennett's body was found and authorities say exposure could have contributed to his death.

The investigation is ongoing but police say it does not appear that the death is suspicious.
