The snow bird has found its wings and flown the coop.

Well, sort of. The bird has actually been dismantled in order for it to land at its final destination which is a local food pantry.

It's all part of the United Way of Eastern Maine's Food Pantry Project.

The bird sculpture was built at Hollywood Casino in Bangor as a very decorative and deliberate donation.

The United Way's Adam Lacher says interested businesses can contact the United Way and they'll provide you with the special shelving that will allow your customers and employees to donate non-perishable food items which will be distributed through the Good Shepherd Food Bank.
