Moose permit season brings excited people of all ages out for one common goal, get the big one! So why should all the excitement be contained to just one day? The event will showcase more than 20 vendors from Allen's Coffee Brandy to the North Woods Sporting Journal. A moose calling contest will take place on the first day and finalists will compete in the final contest before the permit drawing on Saturday.

Demonstrations on things like how to fly fish and hunting with dogs will also take place Saturday before the drawing. Plus some of the Wardens from North Woods Law will be there for meet and greet opportunities. Saturday wraps up with the big drawing! They will be drawing fewer permits this year. The state has reduced the number of permits that will be drawn to 2815. That's down from 3095 last year and is the lowest number since 2003.

Sunday's event include a golf tournament and youth field day at the U-Maine 4-H Camp and Learning Center at Bryant Pond.

The event is scheduled for June 12-14 with the permit drawing on the 13th.
