Coming up this Sunday, Nov. 11, in honor of Veteran's Day, there is going to be a tattoo contest at Jeff's Catering in Brewer from 1 p.m. - 6 p.m., being put on by Maine Veteran's Project and Diversified Ink tattoo company. There are tons of prizes to be won, and all the money raised at the event will go to the MVP.

There's many categories to choose from as far as entering, so don't think you can only have a big giant sleeve, or whole leg piece or something crazy like that. In fact, here are the categories being judged:

* Best Black & White (Small)
* Best Black & White (Large)
* Best Color (Small)
* Best Color (Large)
* Best Sleeve
* Best Military Themed
* Best of Show

So, as you can see, no  one is likely to be left out in the cold, thinking they have no business entering. Big, small,black and white, full color.....they have a category for everyone. Prizes include a $200 gift certificate to the best tattoo in each category, and a $500 gift certificate for the tat judged Best In Show. And the gift cards can be used at any of the shops that the judges work at.

Pre-registration is already open, and coast $10. Obviously, veterans can register for free. There's going to be live music by killer local band Uncrowned Kings, and a cash bar for drinks and snacks! If you wish to attend and check out some sweet ink, but not participate in the contest, the cover charge is $10 as well, but again, veterans get in for free!

It's going to be a great time, and it's for a great cause. So get out and check out some fine tattoos and enjoy some live music. You can't ask for much better than that on a lazy November Sunday!
