A Berwick man is facing his 5th OUI charge after police saw him driving in the breakdown lane.

Maine State Police say a vehicle driven by 30-year-old Lance Faucher of Berwick was spotted on Route 202 in Lebanon at around 8:00 Monday evening. Since the vehicle was traveling in the breakdown lane, Trooper Conner Walton conducted a traffic stop. Faucher reportedly attempted to get out of his vehicle and failed to listen to Trooper Walton when he was told to stay in his seat. The trooper said there were signs of impairment and so field sobriety tests were conducted, which Faucher failed.

He was arrested for Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol and Operating After Habitual Offender, which are both class C felonies. Faucher was taken to the York County Jail where, at last report, he remained with bail set at $7,000. Faucher has 4 prior OUI convictions on his driving record.
