Eight local bands will get together on Sunday for a day of music and auctions, in order to help a local animal refuge build a new barn.

Calling it a 'Barn' Dance, the music will feature some of the best bands in the area. The lineup includes the music of Country Camo, The Rick Carter Band, 5 Wheel Drive, Country Boots, The Barn Dogs, The Allison Ames Band, The Tyler Healy Band, and the Ian Black Band. Maine's local musicians are always looking for ways to help others, and this weekend it's the Samsara!

In addition to the music, there will be a silent auction, featuring several gift cards from Bangor area eateries, and a lot of different service companies. Throughout the day, there will also be live auction items up for bid, including an autographed Chris Young CD, a couple of guitars, a one of a kind commemorative sweatshirt, and more!

The Samsara Exotic Animal Refuge in Greenfield houses animals that can't be accepted at traditional animal shelters. Currently, they have four horses, two alpacas, four llamas, and a 500 pound hog, among others. Without a barn, the animals are scattered around the grounds, making caring for them more time-consuming than it needs to be. With a barn, the large animals could all be kept in the same shelter. And they'd have a place to store hay, so they can buy it during the summer when it's cheaper. As a non-profit, that will take a huge burden off the budget.

The 'Barn' Dance will be held this Sunday from noon to 7pm at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Old Town. The suggested donation is $10, but any amount will be accepted to join the fun. All the proceeds of the day will go toward building that barn.

If you can't make the dance, but would still like to donate, there is a gofundme page set up for the resort. We hope you can help!
