Maine musicians will gather once again this year for a concert to benefit Maine's homeless veterans. And this year's concert has a very special guest - Georgette Jones, daughter of George Jones and Tammy Wynette!

This is the 6th Annual Maine's Homeless Veterans Benefit and the event gets bigger every year! Last year, the Country Legends Tour was held at the Augusta Armory, but it came very close to selling out. So this year, they decided to move it to the Augusta Civic Center to ensure that they'll have room for everyone!

Silent and live auctions will accompany an amazing line-up of musicians! Entertainment will be provided by Denny Breau, Debby Morin, Peter Allen, Emerald Sky, Sharon Hood and Dixon Road, Ken and Jane Brooks, Chris Fyfe, Bob Elston, Malinda Liberty, Debbie Myers, the talented house band, and more! Georgette Jones and Brian Mallery will headline the show with music from both of her parents!

The money raised by the event helps Maine's homeless veterans find housing, and provides a basic housewarming kit that gives them many of the items they'll need to get started. These are the kinds of things that we take for granted, like dishes, cookware, bedding, and paper goods.

Aaron is a Veteran who benefited from the program:

"The past year," Aaron says, "has seen a transformation in me that is nothing short of miraculous. I have gone from homeless, unemployed and unemployable to safely, stably housed, employed within my profession again and with previously unexpected opportunities constantly made available to me. Togus, in particular the Chemical Dependency Rehabilitation Program and Compensated Work Therapy programs, have been instrumental in my being where I am today. Rather than giving me a hand out, they instead offered me a hand up. I feel a debt of gratitude that is beyond any price tag and a sense of responsibility to repay this debt by 'paying it forward.' It is now my responsibility to place that same lifeline within reach of the next Veteran and to assist those who helped me in my time of need."

Aaron will share his story at the concert that gets underway at noon on Sunday. For more information or to purchase tickets, call (207) 712-2392. Don't miss it!
