Police say a man who is accused of breaking into a woman's home and exposing himself is a person of interest in a sexual assault at Bowdoin College last month.

Stephen McIntire of Bath was arrested last week after police say he broke into a home on Cherry Street and exposed himself to a woman who lives there.

The Bangor Daily News reports the 55-year-old McIntire has a long criminal history, including a 1997 conviction for gross sexual assault and a 2015 conviction for burglary, violation of privacy and failure to comply with the sex offender registry.

Brunswick Police Cmdr. Mark Waltz said Tuesday that McIntire is one of several "persons of interest" in a sexual assault at Bowdoin College on Nov. 10.

A student at the school reported that she was raped by a man in an off-campus housing complex on Belmont Street.

“We certainly have other people we’re talking to, but he’s a person of interest,” Waltz told the BDN.
