Bar Harbor's Town Manager Dana Reed confirmed to us today that the town's Police Chief Nathan Young has been placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of an internal investigation.

Reed would not comment on what prompted the investigation or how long it might last. He did say that it's being conducted by attorney and former Portland Police internal investigator Jon Goodman.

Young was hired by the town as a police officer in January of 1984. Reed promoted him to the Chief's position on October 2nd, 1991.

Reed told us, "It being the practice of the Town of Bar Harbor not to comment on personnel matters, no further information can or will be released at this time."

While Young is on leave, the command staff of the Bar Harbor Police Department will be in charge of the department: Lieutenant James Pinkham, Sergeant David Kerns, and Sergeant Shawn Farrar.
