Bangor Police Say Shooting Appears to be a Tragic Accident [UPDATE]
Bangor Police are investigating a shooting that occurred Wednesday afternoon on Bald Mountain Drive in Bangor. A 3-year-old girl, whose name is being withheld, suffered a gunshot wound to the neck, which is considered to be life-threatening. She's currently hospitalized at Eastern Maine Medical Center.
Police received a 911 all at around 4:42 p.m. Wednesday reporting a shooting at 54 Bald Mountain Drive. They responded to the scene along with Bangor Fire and Rescue units. The 3-year-old child was taken to EMMC as investigators tried to piece together what happened.
In a press release today, Bangor Police Department's public information officer, Sergeant Catherine Rumsey says, so far, the shooting appears to be the result of a tragic accident. However, investigators continue to look into the shooting. The case will be reviewed by the Penobscot County District Attorney's office before any further information is made public.
