Bangor Man Charged with Assaulting Pregnant Woman

Police have arrested a Bangor man in connection with the violent assault of a pregnant woman early Monday morning.

Joshua Cole, 34, was charged with elevated aggravated assault on a pregnant person after police found a woman conscious but severely injured in the hallway of an apartment house at 210 Essex Street. He also was charged with assaulting two other people who tried to intervene.

Sgt. Tim Cotton of the Bangor Police said in a news release that Cole initially would not open the door for police. However, Cole eventually opened the door shortly before 4 a.m. Police used a taser to subdue Cole and transported him to Penobscot County Jail.
