Officials say a body found in the woods in Rockport had been identified as a man wanted for sexually assaulting a child. 45-year-old Kevin Mitchell had been listed as a missing person since May, when his car was found in Union. Police have not disclosed his cause of death.

Investigators into the shot fired inside the Augusta Walmart say 31-year-old Robert Potter pulled a gun on another customer during an argument that started with Kevin Roberge telling him his boot lace was untied. The men struggled and the gun went off, but no one was struck by the bullet. Potter has been arrested and hospitalized for unspecified treatment.

Emera Maine says its prepared for whatever the next 48 hours will bring, with snow, sleet, and ice all possibilities for tonight into Friday. The National Weather Service says up to 3 inches of snow is expected tonight in some areas as the temperature drops into the 20’s.

The Bangor Area Breakfast rotary will host its annual Veterans day pancake breakfast this Saturday, between 7 and 10:30 at Jeff’s Catering in Brewer. Admission is just seven dollars for adult and four dollars for children, and the proceeds will be used to purchase new warm coats for folks in need.

The call for Christmas cards to brighten the final holiday season for a boy battling brain cancer in a Portland hospital has gone far and wide. Jacob Thompson has received cards from across the country, including one from Arnold Schwarzenegger. Maine native Anna Kendrick sent Jacob a card, telling him she was born in that hospital and calling him a ‘handsome devil.’ Christmas cards can be sent to Maine Medical Center in Portland, addressed to Jacob Thompson.
