A beautiful video that mixes modern-day Bangor with overlays of historical Bangor was produced by one of my coworkers, who also contributed photos for a fundraising calendar.

Isn't it awesome when you realize that someone you know in a certain role is suddenly revealed in a whole different way? Take, for example, my coworker Rick Haney. Rick is an account executive at Townsquare Media, that I run into in the halls every once in a while. He's a nice guy who always smiles and says hello. And, at this year's Bangor On Tap, we shared the VIP pouring duties, and that's where I learned that he not only brews his own beer, but also once owned his own business.

But I was totally unprepared to see Rick's picture when I checked out who produced a stunning video about Bangor's history. Rick is a talented photographer who, along with his brother Patrick, has taken pictures of locations in Bangor, and then added an overlay of what the site looked like decades ago. The result will give you a whole new perspective on the Queen City.

The video is only the tip of the iceberg, however. Rick has compiled the pictures in a calendar that benefits the Bangor Historical Society. The calendars are available at several downtown locations, including at the Historical Society's 'Thomas A. Hill House' museum on Union Street. My love of history started one summer in high school when I worked as a volunteer tour guide in that museum! You can also pick up the calendars at Rebecca's, the Antique Marketplace & Cafe, The Briar Patch, Chapel Hill Floral, Epic Sports, and State Street Wine Cellar.
