Bangor's Fire Chief, who just recently submitted his resignation, has been placed on paid non-disciplinary leave. There's no word on the reason for the decision.

WABI reports that city officials have refused to explain the reason for the change in Scott Lucas's employment status, calling it a personnel matter. Lucas tendered his resignation recently, with an end date in December. That would enable him to complete his two-year contract with the city.

Lucas told reporters that, although he's only been in Bangor for two years, he's actually been in the fire service for twenty-three years. He has also said that he plans to go to work at the University of Maine as a wrestling coach.
