Augusta Police arrested two people for allegedly trafficking in cocaine near property belonging to Cony High School.

It was just before 11:30 Sunday night when Officer Simon Yorks discovered the suspicious vehicle parked near the entrance to the Augusta Nature Center Trails on Cony Street, which is less than 500 feet from Cony High School. Maine State Police Trooper Lacoste was called in, with his K-9 partner, Bella, to search the vehicle. During that search, police seized 35 grams of cocaine base powder that was packaged for individual sale, a digital scale, packaging material, narcotics paraphernalia, and some cash.

Arrested were Dylan Hendsbee, 26-years-old of West Gardiner. He's charged with aggravated trafficking in schedule W drugs in a school zone, violating conditions of release, and criminal forfeiture of property.

Also arrested was 23-year-old Steve Madsen of West Gardiner who's charged with aggravated trafficking of schedule W drugs in a school zone.
