An Auburn woman convicted of killing her two year old daughter learned her fate Thursday.

25 year old Leanna Norris, formerly of Stetson, was sentenced to 37 years in prison for the June 2013 incident.

Investigators say Norris repeatedly admitted that she gave her daughter three times the normal dose of an antihistamine, put duct tape over her mouth and nose, and smothered her with a blanket.

Police say Norris then tried to commit suicide by taking the rest of the antihistamine and 200 Advils.

Norris pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, but a judge rejected that defense and she was convicted of murder last December.
