An Ashland man is accused of selling drugs that led to the overdose death of another man.

The investigation began on September 26th, 2016 when State Police found the body of 41-year-old David Sowers in a residence on the Griffin Ridge Road in Mapleton. Evidence at the scene indicated that he had died as the result of an overdose of heroin and fentanyl and was confirmed by the State Medical Examiner's Office.

On April 6th, 29-year-old Trevor Tompkins of Ashland was indicted by an Aroostook County grand jury on a charge of Aggravated Unlawful Trafficking of Schedule Drugs Resulting in Death. State Police were assisted in this investigation by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.
