Actress and Portland native Anna Kendrick will fund school projects across the state through the website DonorsChoose.org.

Steven Colbert first called attention to the national crowdfunding website when he ran for the South Carolina Democratic Primary in 2007 and urged supporters to donate to the site, rather than to his campaign. The result, according to CBS News, was $70,000 worth of donations.

His involvement with the site, which included funding every classroom project in his home state after selling his anchor desk and hearth, has sparked #BestSchoolDay. Described as an online flash mob, it includes more than 60 celebrities, athletes, and business owners who are donating to DonorsChoose.org, in an effort to support education and make students' and teachers' wishes come true.

Colbert announced a list of donors recently, and they include Maine's own Anna Kendrick, who is giving back to her home state of Maine, with the help of an anonymous donor. While the amount of the donation hasn't been disclosed, Kendrick says all projects on the site from Maine are being funded. The BDN reports the money will be used for classroom projects all around the state, including at the Eddington School,  Durham Community School, and Milo Elementary, as well as schools in Augusta and Biddeford.

The video brought tears to my eyes, as each celebrity, athlete, and business person told the details of their #BestSchoolDay donation. Amazing to see all these people who have been so fortunate in life, helping out school children and teachers. Talk about investing in our futures! Wow!
