The Rotary Club of Bangor is announcing the trophy winners from the Festival of Lights parade in Bangor.

More than 80 units participated in this annual community event.  

Congratulations to the six trophy winners from the Festival of Lights Parade.

Best Band--Pride of Madawaska Marching Band:  The Pride of Madawaska Marching Band is made up of 35 members. They came to the Greater Bangor area to spread holiday cheer.

Best Adult Entry –Citizens of Maine LLC:  Citizens of Maine LLC provides professional caring support to adults with intellectual disabilities in the home and the community.  This community support program built a float four years in a row.

Best Commercial Entry – Lane Construction: Lane Construction greeted the community from the Island of Aruba. The float was designed, constructed, and decorated by employees of The Lane Construction Corporation.

Best Non-Profit Entry – Maine Special Olympics:   Special Olympics Mission is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

Best Performing Entry – Morita’s School of Dance:   Morita's School of Dance teaches classes for those 3 years old through adults in Hermon, Bucksport and Mile in tap, ballet, jazz, hip hop, Zumba, yoga and ballroom.  New students may join in January.  Morita's School of Dance is celebrating its 46th season of teaching dance.  This unit will be representing the State of Maine in Los Angeles in April 2014.

Best Youth Entry:   Girl Scout Troops 1322, 47 and 861:   These Scouts are from the Eddington and Holbrook schools --- they were Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree.
