Hollywood's Walk of Fame is full of movie stars, but Nashville's Music City Walk of Fame is filled with something even better: country stars. Country group Alabama are set to receive a star of their own at the end of May, the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp. announced on Wednesday (May 4).

Alabama's Jeff Cook, Teddy Gentry and Randy Owen, along with "Soul Man" singer Sam Moore, will receive the Walk of Fame's 71st and 72nd stars, in recognition of their creative impacts on Nashville and its musical heritage. The induction ceremony will take place on May 26, at 1PM CT in Walk of Fame Park.

"This year’s inductees to the Music City Walk of Fame prove once again the dazzling scope and sweep of Nashville’s musical history," Nashville Mayor Megan Barry says. “Alabama is one of the great country groups of all time. They created a stunning blend of voices and musical styles to top the charts over and over and over again. Sam Moore’s incredible vocals and stage moves helped make Sam & Dave one of the finest rhythm and blues acts in music history."

The Music City Walk of Fame, open to all genres of music, as well as those within the music industry, is on Nashville’s Music Mile, a one-mile stretch that connects downtown to Music Row. Country stars Miranda Lambert, Johnny Cash, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood all earned stars in 2015.

Alabama will kick off the North American leg of their Southern Drawl Tour on May 12. The trek's first three nights will feature the trio performing with the Nashville Symphony.
